The Rev. Dr. V. Scott Harris
Born and raised in Central Florida, Dr. Harris has accepted this part-time position one year after his retirement from 43 years of ministry.
Pastor Scott holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from the University of South Florida, a Master’s of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and a Doctorate of Ministry in Conflict Management from Trinity College and Seminary.
Pastor Scott was ordained as Deacon in the Florida Conference in 1975 and as an Elder in Full Connection in 1979. He served as Chaplain of the Maitland Police and Fire Department for 10 years. He, along with three other clergy, was named a Person of the Year by the Fort Myers News Press for distinguished service in helping to organize the recovery effort on Pine Island in the aftermath of Hurricane Charlie.
Pastor Scott loves music and drama. He started theater groups in his last four churches and performed in multiple comedies and one-man shows.
Pastor Scott and his wife, Peggy, have a blended family of five children, sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Peggy, who was born in Clearwater, Florida, is a retired High School English teacher, and a former curriculum writer for the United Methodist Publishing House. She is presently working on a novel she hopes to get published when completed. She is an avid quilter, reader and musician.
Pastor Scott and Peggy love to travel and have led multiple tours to Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey and all of Europe.
